The app is the product. You own how it feels.
About the role
Lead the mobile team building the OutFindr app for iOS and Android. You own the architecture and the way people move through the app.
That means architecture and animation in the same week. You set the navigation model and the state layer, then spend Thursday afternoon getting a sheet to settle at exactly the right spring. We target sixty frames per second.
You will lead a small mobile team, own the release train on both stores, and be the final word on whether the app is good enough to ship.
What you'll do
- Own the architecture of a production React Native + Expo app: navigation, state, data fetching, offline behaviour, and the native modules underneath.
- Measure and improve time to interactive, frame rate, bundle size and cold start.
- Run the release train: EAS builds, staged rollouts, OTA updates, store review, crash triage.
- Lead and grow the mobile engineers. Review their code, help resolve blockers and coach them through unfamiliar work.
- Work with design to match the specified layout, behaviour and motion.
What we're looking for
If you meet most of these requirements, apply.
- 5+ years building mobile software, with at least 3 in React Native shipping to both stores.
- Deep familiarity with Reanimated, Gesture Handler, FlashList, Hermes, and where each of them bites.
- You have profiled and fixed a jank problem, and can explain what the JS thread was doing.
- Experience owning an App Store and Play Store release process end to end.
- You have led engineers before, formally or otherwise.
Nice to have, never required:
- Native Swift or Kotlin when the bridge is not enough.
- Expo config plugins, custom dev clients, or EAS at scale.
- A portfolio app whose motion you are proud of.
